The Roland-Story J.V. football team continued to struggle as they were shut out by North Polk 19-0 last Monday night (Sept. 16) in Story City. The Norse played better in the second half, but were already down 12-0 at the break. The offense struggled from the outset, as the top R-S rusher Joe Brown could only muster 35 yards on seven carries. Dylan Schmidt carried four times for 31 yards.
"We really need to step things up at this level," said a dejected Coach Matt Soderstrum. "We made too many mistakes and really struggled on both sides of the ball. Hopefully we’ll improve n the weeks to come."
Also handling the ball were Caleb Schlatter (4 carries for 23 yards), Paul Moats (7 carries for 22 yards), Joe Joslin (1 for 4 yards), Franz Hurd (3 for 3 yards), Zach Tryon (1 for 2 yards), CJ Arnold (1 for 2 yards) and QB Jerald Fritz (3 for no gain). Fritz was also 1 for 4 in passing for 7 yards, hitting Nick Moore for the lone catch of the night.
