Earlier in the week, on Monday (April 22), the Norse girls ran in some rather unpleasant conditions, as they nearly caught champion Norwalk at the Winterset Huskette Invitational. The Norsemen posted 110 points, just eight back of Norwalk (118). Earlham was a distant third at 70 points.

The R-S girls claimed five first place finishes. Kaylee Knutson won the shot put with a throw of 33 ft. 10 in. Kayla Johnston took the 200 meter dash crown with a time of :27.55; just 17/100ths of a second ahead of the runner up finisher. Two relay teams also came in first: The 4 x 200 squad, consisting of Kirsten Waline, Libby Faga, Lauren Himan and Kayla Johsnton, clocked in at 1:52.89. The distance medley team captured the title with a time of 4:45.05; just 89/100ths in front of runner up North Polk (4:45.94). Members of the distance squad included Kirsten Waline, Lauren Himan, Anna Himan and Anna Halstead.

Placing in the runner up spot was Kayla Johnston, who just missed the title in the 100 meter dash by 4/100ths of a second, turning in a time of :13.69. Three relay teams posted runner up finishes as well – the shuttle hurdle (1:11.66), the 4 x 400 (4:28,79) and the sprint medley (2:00.63); the latter coming in second by only 6/100ths of a second, behind winner North Polk (2:00.57). Members of the shuttle hurdle team included Alyson Riesberg, Lexi Crutchfield, Kirsten Waline and Mikenzie Monthei. The 4 x 400 was made up of Alexa Whipple, Lexi Crutchfield, Lauren Himan and Anna Himan. And the sprint medley team consisted of Lexi Georgius, Libby Faga, Tara Rylant and Traci Marienau.

Coming in third for Roland-Story was Bryce Holmgren in the shot put (31 ft. 10 in.), Lexi Georgius in the long jump (15 ft. 7 ¼ in.) and Lauren Himan in the high jump (4 ft. 9 in.).

Fourth place finishers for the Norse included Mikenzie Monthei in the 400 hurdles (1:11.85) and the 4 x 800 (11:08.92) and 4 x 100 (:54.26) relay teams. The 4 x 800 included Sarah Lunn, Tara Rylant, Nicole Tryon and Chelsey Tinken. The 4 x 100 members were Lexi Georgius, Kirsten Waline, Mikenzie Monthei and Kayla Johnston.

Placing fifth for the Norsemen was Traci Marienau in the 400 (1:07.07), while teammate Alexa Whipple was right behind Traci in sixth with a time of 1:07.22. Anna Himan was fifth as well in the 800 (2:35.92). And Hope Sievers claimed sixth in the long jump (14 ft. 7 ½ in.), as did Mikenzie Monthei in the 100 hurdles (:17.37) and Lexi Crutchfield in the 400 hurdles (1:14.91).

North Polk finished fourth with 55 points, followed by I-35 (46), Winterset (39), Des Moines East (38), Corning (37), Saydel (31), Carlisle (23) and West Central Valley (22).

The meet at South Hamilton scheduled for Tuesday, April 23, was cancelled due to inclement weather.
