The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men’s golf team won the team championship at the Kansas Wesleyan Spring Invitational held March 15 at Salina Municipal Golf Course in Salina, KS. Freshman Dakota Miller of Boone shot a three-over par 73 to lead DMACC men. Other scores included Tanner Ludwig of Carroll with a 74, Nick Costa of Anamosa and Matt Gute of Carroll each shot 77s and Brad Christensen of Carroll rounded out DMACC’s performance with a 78. The Bears finished with a 301 team score, five strokes better than runner up Kansas Wesleyan.

Two other DMACC golfers, including sophmore Evan Johnson, a Roland-Story graduate, and also a member of the team this spring, managed a round of 77. Evan competed in the individual portion of the tournament, along with teammate Hunter Van Veen of Monroe. Van Veen shot a round of 72 to finish third in the individual standings. Johnson tied for 11th in the individual race.

Treg Fawl of Central Christian College took tournament medalist honors with a four-under 66.

DMACC plays in the Graceland Spring Invitational this Friday and Saturday, March 28-29 at Monzingo Golf and Country Club in Maryville, MO.
