The Roland-Story girls made an unexpected exit out of the 3A Regional volleyball tournament on Monday night (Oct. 28) in Alleman, falling to the North Polk Comets in four sets, 3-1. After winning the first set 25-15, the Norse appeared poised to take their game to the next round. But host North Polk had other ideas, winning the last three sets, 25-16, 25-22 and 25-18, and dominating play in the process. The Comets, playing their best volleyball of the season right now, have won 13 of their last 14 matches, including nine in a row. The Norsemen bow out with a fine 21-9 record, finishing second in the HOIAC with an 8-1 mark behind champion Nevada (9-0).

North Polk moves on to face East Sac County tomorrow night (Thursday) in Lake View. East Sac defeated Gilbert 25-23, 25-16 and 25-17 on Monday night (Oct. 28) as well in Lake View. See full details of the North Polk match in next week’s Herald.
