The Norsemen girls took advantage of some good weather last week, getting two meets in the books on Thursday and Friday (April 25-26). At Greene County on Thursday, played at the Hill Golf Course in Grand Junction, the Norse easily defeated their hosts 202-244. Dawn Retallick posted the best R-S round of the season thus far, carding a 45. That excellent round earned Dawn medalist honors. Teammate Cassie Shadlow was runner up medalist with a round of 51. Rounding out the Norsemen’s lineup were Bridget Concannon and Jesslyn Coghlan, who each turned in scores of 53. Kelsie Crouch posted a 54 and Melissa Krakau came in with a 57.

"We finally had nice weather for golf," said Coach Larry Ammerman. "I thought the girls had a good night. (With the) warm weather, they focused on their game, and the scores showed that, (as they turned in) their best scores of the season."

The J.V. squad also defeated Greene County by six strokes, 263-269. Scores for the Norse included Jaeda Pitman, 63; Brooke Ehrenberg, 65; Jacey Ellis, 66; Emily Seydell, 69; and Hailey Arthur and Paige Petzenhauser, 70.

On Friday, in what was perhaps the nicest day the golfers have had all season, the Norse girls hosted Ballard at River Bend. The result was an exciting 204-210 victory for Roland-Story. With temps in the mid-60s, it was an "excellent night for golf", according to Coach Ammerman. The River Bend Golf Course was all greened up and looking beautiful as a result of the nice rain the week before.

Medalist honors went to Lindsey Fisher, who scored an excellent round of 45, after missing most of the week due to illness. Bridget Concannon posted a 49, followed by Jesslyn Coghlan at 53 and Danielle Retallick at 57. Madison Hauge and Shelby Peterson paced the Bombers with rounds of 48 and 49, respectively.

"I challenged the girls the night before, after the Greene County win, to come back and compete (against Ballard), and they did," stated a pleased Coach Ammerman.

Other varsity scores included Cassie Shadlow with a 59 and Melissa Krakau had a 65.

The R-S J.V. team was also victorious, downing the Bombers 270-297. Molly Fink scored a 62, followed by Hailey Arthur at 66, Jaeda Pitman and Jacey Ellis in at 71, Brooke Ehrenberg shot a 73 and Kelsie Crouch posted an 81.

Earlier in the week, the Norse girls had Tuesday’s (April 23) meet with North Polk and Colfax-Mingo at home postponed until Monday, April 29.
