Voters have a chance Thursday to hear directly from city candidates in the Nov. 5 election.
The League of Women Voters of Ames and Story County is holding the City Candidate Forum from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Fairview Lodge, Story City.
Candidates are: Chris Crutchfield, Kari Ostrem, Connie Phillips and Norman Spurlock.
The event is free and open to the public.
Absentee voting for the Nov. 5 city council and school board elections began Monday, according to the Story County Auditor’s Office.
The school board election will also take place on Nov. 5, with Marc Soderstrum, Jasmine Goeders and Christopher McIlrath running for three at-large seats.
Due to a change in the Iowa legislative session, for the first time in Iowa history, both municipal and school elections will take place on the same day, with election day polls opening 7 a.m and closing at 8 p.m.
For absentee voters, mailed ballots will be sent to voters who have completed a request form, an all eligible voters residing within Story County may vote at the Story Auditor’s Office located in Story County Administration Building in Nevada.
The last day for absentee voting is Nov. 4, a day before election day.
