The Central Iowa Water Gardening Association (CIWGA) made a stop at the new water pond within the Households of Bethany, which is a part of the Bethany Life continuum.

“It was included on the tour because of the uniqueness of its relaxing nature and what it means to the residents. The sound of running water is so soothing. There are many positive benefits of a water garden,” says Anita Campbell, coordinator of the pond tour for the Capitol City Chapter of CIWGA.

This year, the annual tour included 11 stops. The trip was 70 miles long, including ponds along the Boone/Story County line, downtown Des Moines, northern Des Moines, Story City and Roland.

“I’m so happy we have this interaction with nature,” says Nancy Kurrle, tour attendee.

“It’s so beautiful,” adds Darlene Alden (both are pictured in the accompanying photograph).
