Two young businesswomen have organized a shopping event that will feature more than 20 direct sales vendors and other small business owners on two Saturdays: Feb. 17 and 24.
Scentsy coordinator Ashley Platte and LuLaRoe spokesperson Katie Ash are the masterminds of the event.
The Feb. 17 event will be held at Traci Jennings’ Re-Max Real Estate Center at 610 Broad St. in Story City. The Feb. 24 event will be held in the meeting room above City Hall in Story City. Refreshments will be served.
“We thought it would be nice to get some other direct sales people together to give people a retail experience, especially now that the mall is closed,” Ash said.
The event is free and open to the public.
She and Platte posted a note on the Roland & Story City Community Swap Shop page on Facebook to see if anyone would be interested in joining them. The response was overwhelming. Before long, they had more vendors than they could handle in one weekend, so they broke it into two Saturdays.
They planned to have both events in the venue above City Hall, but Jennings reached out to them and offered space she had available.
“If it goes well, we’ll look at having it again,” said Platte.
Along with Ash and Platte, vendors on Feb. 17 will include Laura Clouse, Thirty-One; Chelsie Stensland, Stella and Dot; Amanda Strutz, Pampered Chef; Megan Rasmussen, Rodan and Fields; Anna Gibson, Monat; Beth Jensen, Jamberry; Ashley Flander, K & J Creative Looks; and Carrie Tresemer, Scentsy.
On Feb. 24, Ash and Platte will be joined by Katie Hansen, LipSense; Misty Vickery, Tupperware; Holly Bowman, Perfectly Posh; Christina Saunders, cookbooks and crafts; Cindy Duit, Paparazzi Jewelry; Megan Rasmussen, Rodan and Fields; Paige Vierkandt, Norwex; Jes Olsen, Young Living; Ashley Ferris, Dot Dot Smile; Hannah Everly, Drawing a Blank; Carrie Tresemer, Scentsy; and Melissa Steiner, Trades of Hope.
Platte lives in the Radcliffe area with her husband Jesse and their four boys. She’s been with Scentsy for six years and uses her position as a flexible part-time job while being a busy mom.
Ash lives in Story City with her husband Jonathon. She works full-time at State Farm Insurance in Story City and has been selling LuLaRoe for three years.
