Bill and Deb Fennelly are serving as the campaign chairs for the 2018 United Way of Story County LIVE UNITED annual campaign. Campaign chairs serve as the primary campaign spokesperson throughout the county and assist with campaign planning, goal setting and volunteer recruitment.

“Bill and Deb see how it takes everyone working together to make Story County as strong as it can be, and they are the first to raise their hands when a job needs done,” said Kristin Pates, UWSC campaign director. “Their history of community support, including United Way, and their passion for our mission is easy to see. We’re so glad to have them leading the campaign this year.”

Bill and Deb Fennelly have lived in Ames for 24 years. Bill is the head women’s basketball coach at Iowa State. He has coached four gold medal teams for USA basketball and has a 100 percent graduation rate. Deb has taught for the Ames Community Schools, as well as serving on the board of directors for local organizations like Mary Greeley Hospital and Friendship Ark. She also spends her time volunteering for many, many organizations around the community. Their family includes sons Billy (wife Lyndsey) and children Will and Callie, who live in Ames, and Steven (wife Andrea) and their son Camden, who live in Cedar Falls.

The Fennellys will be succeeded by 2019 Campaign Chair, Mike Espeset, and 2020 Campaign Chair, Steve Goodhue.
