Follinglo Podcast Presentation
Join the Story City Historical Society as it welcomes Jenn Hanson-DePaula and Marcus DePaula back to Story City to talk about the Follinglo Podcast and the tragic event that happened 50 years ago on the Tjernagel family farm. The presentation will be held on Thursday, March 21, at 6:30 p.m. at the Story City Community Center, 503 Elm Ave. Coffee and desserts will be served at 6:30 p.m., with Marcus and Jenn’s presentation at 7 p.m. Following the presentation will be a time for questions and more desserts.
The SCHS hopes you can join them to learn more about this significant event in our community’s history.

American Legion Post 59
The Story City American Legion Post 59, 301 Washington St., has karaoke with DJ Jessica on Friday, March 15, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. there is no charge to participate.
The Legion is hosting Taco Night Wednesday, March 20, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. with bingo following, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
G.I. Jill’s is having a St. Patrick’s Day party on Saturday, March 16, and will be serving a dinner of corned beef, potatoes and cabbage for $10. There will also be free karaoke from 8 p.m. to midnight at G.I. Jill’s, 207 N. Main St., Roland.
Cribbage at the Cup
Join in on a fun game of cribbage at The Yellow Cup Cafe from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19. The event is free and open to the public. Pub snacks will be provided; BYOB.
Stitch ‘n’ Knit
Stitch ‘n’ Knit meets at Bertha Bartlett Public Library at 10 a.m. every Friday. If you knit, crochet or stitch anything by hand, come enjoy an hour of fellowship with other crafters. Remember to bring a project to keep your hands busy.
At 1 p.m. on Friday, March 15, at the Story City Community Center, people age 55 and over are invited to play bridge club and/or the card game “Hand and Foot.” No reservations or charge required, but a snack to share is appreciated.
On Wednesday, March 20, a Fellowship luncheon will be at 11 a.m. at the Story City Community Center. The cost is $4 per person age 55 and over. The delicious meals are catered by Story City Market’s deli. A monthly menu and contact information can be picked up at the center. Bring your own table service or buy supplies for 25 cents. The event offers great food, fellowship and bingo. Reservations can be made by calling Ruby Olson at (515) 733-9278.
The animated hit “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” will be shown Friday, Saturday, Sunday, March 15, 16, 17, at the Story Theater in Story City. Shows are evenings at 7 p.m., with special Saturday and Sunday matinees also at 4:30 p.m. Admission is only $4 and it’s rated PG. For more information, call (515) 733-4551 or (515) 733-4319. Saints Peter and Paul Church, 14238 500th Ave., Ames, is holding a fish fry on Friday, March 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. The cost is $9 for adults, $4 for children ages 5 to 12, and free for kids under 5. The meal is sponsored by the Ss. Peter and Paul Knights of Columbus Council No. 15060, and proceeds will go to the council’s charitable causes.
