An attorney from Carroll was appointed Friday to the district court judge seat currently held by Judge Steven J. Oeth.
Christopher Polking was appointed to the seat currently held by Oeth, who is set to retire on Friday after nine years on the bench as a district court judge in Iowa’s 2B Judicial District. Oeth, of Ogden, was first appointed as an associate district court judge in 1997, and later appointed to a district court judge position in 2010.
Iowa Judicial District 2B covers Story, Boone, Greene, Hamilton, Hardin, Marshall, Humboldt, Pocahontas, Sac, Webster and Wright counties.
Polking received his undergraduate degree from Tufts University in Massachusetts and his law degree from the University of Minnesota.
He currently has a law practice in Carroll, and previously served as a part-time magistrate judge for nine years in Carroll County.
