Two new cases of COVID-19 were reported by the Iowa Department of Public Health on Tuesday, bringing the total number of cases throughout Story County to 81.

State health officials also announced the number of cases in Iowa has surpassed 15,000 cases after an additional 341 positive cases of COVID-19 across the state were reported.

Steve Sullivan, a spokesperson for Mary Greeley Medical Center, confirmed the two new cases, but did not immediately know where the patients were tested or their status.

On Monday, Gov. Kim Reynolds announced the state’s Coronavirus website — — will now report case counts, hospitalizations and other statistics as the data becomes known. Prior statistics were updated once per day.

As of 11 a.m. Tuesday, 15,296 Iowans have tested positive for COVID-19 which as led to the death of 367 people.

Since testing began, over 1,600 Story County residents have been tested for the novel coronavirus and of the county’s 81 positive cases, 59 residents have fully recovered, according to the state health department.
