Steven L. Erickson passed away suddenly at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames on Oct. 28 at the age of 64. Funeral services were Friday, Nov. 2, at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial will be at a later date at Mt. Olive Cemetery near Randall. Visitation was Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church.


Steve was born to Marvin and Margaret (Lund) Erickson on May 29, 1954. He grew up in the Story City area, graduating from Roland-Story High School in 1972. He worked in the grocery business for many years and was an excellent meat cutter of for Harlan’s. After he retired from Hy-Vee, he worked for Arnold’s Motor Supply in Ames.


In 1975, he married Sherry Swenson. To this union three children were born, Kim Mock (Jason) of Mitchellville, Kelly Erickson of New York and Seth Erickson (Kensey) of Denver, Colo.


Steve loved his wife and children, and all of his family. He enjoyed going to football games, especially the Kansas City Chiefs and watching them on t.v.


Left to cherish his loving memories are his wife Sherry, children, Kim (Jason) Mock, Kelly Erickson and Seth (Kensey) Erickson; his brothers, Robert (Gayle) Tate and Gary (Kathie) Reinertson; his sisters, Diane (Doug) Gerjets, Nancy Uran, Linda Bodensteiner and Cindy (Jim) Shelledy and his mother-in-law, Betty Swenson.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Erickson and Margaret Reinertson, his step father, Everett Reinertson; his father-in-law, Melbourne Swenson and two brothers-in law, Craig and David Swenson.
