Ilene Shirley (Hall) Lage, 81, of Roland died Nov. 12 at Bethany Life in Story City. Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 16, at 1:30 p.m. at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland. Burial followed in the Roland Cemetery. Visitation was an hour prior to the service at the church.

Ilene was born on Dec. 21, 1937, in Story City to Silas and Irene (Twedt) Hall. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland. She married Jim Lage on Sept. 24, 1958, and lived most of her life in Roland. Ilene was a member of Bergen Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir, was a Sunday School teacher and WELCA officer. She worked for 19 ½ years at the Roland Bank and when she retired it was to be an Awesome Grandma to her grandchildren and then worked part-time at the Roland-Story Middle School lunch room.

Ilene is survived by her two sons, Steven (Deb) Lage of Roland and Robert (Jennifer) Lage of Ankeny; a daughter, Karen Hunter of Vinton; four grandchildren, Madison (Jake) Severson, Nicholas Lage, Brennan and Brooke Lage; a great-grandson, Emmett Severson; a brother Harlan (Patty) Hall a sister, Sherry (Bob) Witowski; two sisters-in-law, Betty Lage and Jane Twedt and several nieces and nephews.

Ilene was preceded in death by her husband, Jim on April 22, 1996; her parents; brothers-in-law, Kent Lage and Roger Twedt; mother and father-in-law, Harold and Frances (Teig) Lage and a nephew Danny Whipple.
