Ronald Alan Wierson

Santa Monica - Ronald Alan Wierson of Santa Monica, California, formerly of Story City, passed into the presence of the Lord on November 9th. He was born January 9, 1950, to Jack and Irma (Goffman) Wierson and grew up in Nevada. Ron was married to Arlene Bolt in Roland in November 1968. To this union were born two sons: Eric Ronald and Matthew John. Ron and Arlene were divorced, and later he married Marlene Forkin. They had a daughter, Cherish, and were later divorced. Ron worked at various jobs until he became disabled, including making deliveries for Home Furniture and driving a taxicab in Ames. He lived in Story City most of his adult life, where he was well known, as he daily walked through town and even beyond the town limits. In 2017 Ron moved to Santa Monica, California, where he made many friends who are sorely missing him. Ron was preceded in death by his son Eric, by his parents and by his uncles Phil and Stanley Wierson. He is survived by his son Matthew and grandsons Everett and Shane Wierson of Ames; daughter Cherish (Larry)Miller and grandsons Alex Carrigan and Samuel Miller of Afton; his brother Ray of Davenport; his sisters Claudia Anderson of Madrid, Mary Dyer of Holiday Island, Arkansas, and Diane Nichols of Colo; his uncle Paul Wierson of Story City; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ron's cremains will be returned to Iowa and buried at the Sheffield Cemetery in rural Story City. A memorial service will be held there at a later date.
