Beverly Ann (Hovick) Oleson

Roland - Beverly Ann (Hovick) Oleson, 72, of Roland, IA transitioned to her heavenly home unexpectedly on December 9, 2021 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 14 at 11:00 AM at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland, IA. Burial will follow in the Roland Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Bergen Lutheran Church.

Bev was born on June 28, 1949 in Eldora, IA to John and Ozelle (Ose) Hovick. She was baptized and confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Church. She graduated from Roland High School in 1967 and from Buena Vista College in 1972 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Bev married Michael Oleson on November 18, 1972 at Bergen Lutheran Church. She lived most of her life in Roland and Fort Dodge.

Bev was an excellent piano player as well as an excellent baker and cook. She enjoyed seeing Christmas lights, reading inspirational quotes, fishing and the family's annual summer vacation to Alexandria, Minnesota. Bev had an incredibly caring heart and spirit, and this was evident by the way she loved and cared for her parents. Through this special relationship, Bev became deeply connected to their family farm, and thoroughly loved watching her boys continue this farming legacy. Bringing meals and treats to the field was one of her ways of being involved during the busy farming seasons. At any time during the year, a person could always find a baked treat and more than enough food to get full while enjoying food and laughter around the table. Without question, Bev's family was her greatest joy, especially her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Mike; two sons, Michael (Amy) Oleson of Roland and Erik (Jodi) Oleson of Story City; four grandchildren, Laila, John, Aubrey and Carter and two sisters, Janet (Larry) Tantow of Rochester, MN and Julie (Bud) DeWees of Huntington Beach, CA.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, June Sweitzer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bergen Lutheran Church.

The service will be livestreamed on Bergen's Facebook page (www.facebook.com/bergen.lutheran).

Out of consideration and respect for the family, masks are requested for the service and visitation.

Soderstrum Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
