New London and Winfield-Mount Union finished first and second in the Class 1A District golf tournament at Iowa City's Pleasant Valley Golf Course and both advance to the state meet at Westwood Golf Course in Newton on May 24-25.
New London won the district team title with 342 strokes, just one better than Winfield-Mount Union. Danville finished 10th in the 12-team field.
Winfield-Mount Union's Kaleb Hagge, a former state champion, was medalist with a 72. New London's Clayton Phillips was runner-up medalist with a 79.
The top two individuals, and ties, not on advancing teams also qualify for the state tournament. They are Jacob Hesner of East Buchanan, Ethan Streicher of Edgewood-Colesburg and Iowa Valley's Gabe Ritter. They each carded 80s.

PANTHERS 5TH IN 3A DISTRICT: Mount Pleasant finished fifth in the team standings in the Class 3A District boys meet at Oskaloosa's Edmundson Golf Course.
Host Oskaloosa won the team title with a 310. Grinnell was second at 314 and Washington took third with a 319. All three advance to the state tournament at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge on May 24-25.
Grinnell's Lucas Scherf was medalist with a 1-under par 69. The top two individuals not on advancing teams also get a state berth. They are Clear Creek-Amana's Brandon McCarty, who finished third individually with a 72, and Pella's Luke Galeazzi, who was sixth with a 77.
Trace White paced Mount Pleasant with an 80, finishing 11th individually. Notre Dame-West Burlington's Matt Briggs was 12th with an 81. Keokuk's Jake Cook was 18th with an 83.

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD
ILLINOIS STATE MEET: West Hancock junior Zarra Humphry advances to the state finals in two events following her Thursday efforts in the preliminaries of the Illinois Class 1A state girls track and field meet at O'Brien Field in Charleston, Illinois.
Humphry finished third in her heat and fourth overall in the 800-meter run, timed at 2:17.88, and advances to the finals, scheduled for 1:55 p.m. Saturday.
Humphry also teamed with Allison Morgan, Myah Gray and Madisyn Andrews to finish fourth in their heat and seventh overall in the 4x800 relay. They advance with a time of 10:08.05. That final is slated for 11 a.m. Saturday.
In the 4x400, Andrews, Riley Welch, Morgan and Humphrey were timed at 4:16.03, finished fourth in their heat and ninth overall. They do not advance.
West Central High School freshman Sadie Lenz leaped 33 feet, eight and thee-quarter inches in the triple jump, finishing sixth in her flight and 16th overall. She does not advance.
Illini West junior Kailee Artman finished fifth in her heat and 20th overall in the 100-meter hurdles and did not advance. Her time was 16.92 seconds.
ILLINI WEST 10, KNOXVILLE 5: Kennedy Gooding had two home runs and four runs batted in to lead the Chargers past Knoxville in the Class 2A regional tournament at Carthage, Illinois.
Illini West will face Monmouth-Roseville at 10 a.m. Saturday for the regional championship.
The Chargers' Lincoln Gooding singled and tripled and Hunter Wilde singled and doubled. Kennedy Gooding was the winning pitcher, giving up five runs on eight hits and a walk. He struck out two.
Zach Maulden paced Knoxville with three hits in four trips. Cal Engebretson and Noah Harlan each had two hits. Engebretson was the losing pitcher.
BURLINGTON 2, NORTH 1: Emily Murphy and Bailey Wiemann each recorded a goal and an assist and led the Grayhounds to a Mississippi Athletic Conference win at Davenport.
Kayla Glasgow had six saves for Burlington.
Burlington (9-7, 4-4 MAC) hosts North Scott in a MAC match at Bracewell Stadium on Monday. Davenport North slipped to 9-6 (3-4).
MOUNT PLEASANT 10, WAPELLO 0: Mary West had five goals and an assist to guide the Panthers to a non-conference victory at Wapello.
The match was halted five minutes into the second half via the 10-point rule.
Kalyssa Longhurst added two goals for Mount Pleasant (11-5). Kaela Welcher, Sydney Doak and Kendin Scheitlin each had one goal. Welcher had two assists. Anna Ostby and Liz Perry each had one.
Megan Kroger took Wapello's only shot. Makenna West finished with 21 saves.
