AMES — The Roland-Story girls’ golf team turned in a quality runner-up performance at the Gilbert Invitational girls’ golf meet May 6 at the Ames Golf and Country Club.


Roland-Story scored 192 over nine holes to beat Nevada by two strokes for second out of five teams. Gilbert won the team title with a 188.


Kate Rahfeldt placed fourth overall with a 45 to lead Roland-Story. Sydney Weaver shot a 48, Allisyn Coghlan a 49 and Alayna Ringsby a 50 as the other golfers to score for the Norse.


Tori Fournier shot a 51 and Claire Wiseman a 54 to complete Roland-Story’s varsity scoring.


Nevada’s Emma Griffin was the medalist after carding a 40. Gilbert’s Monique Nespor was medalist runner-up with a 41.
