Roland-Story senior shortstop Susie Weaver was named third-team all-state in Class 3A by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association for softball in 2019.


Weaver turned in an outstanding senior season for the Norsemen.


At the plate Weaver hit .377 with a .482 on-base average, .478 slugging average, three doubles, two triples, 14 walks, 19 runs and 11 RBIs. In the field, she made 65 assists and 27 putouts.


The IGCA 3A first team was made up of: Albia’s Alex Beard and Jenna Lawrence; Algona’s Kameryn Etherington; Atlantic’s Baylee Newell; Benton’s Angie Gorkow; Camanche’s Tara Wehde; Centerville’s Claire Mathews; Columbus Catholic’s Taylor Hogan and Alivia Schultz; Crestwood’s Laken Lienhard; Davenport Assumption’s Ali Timmons, Lea Nelson and Ana Wohlers; Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont’s Reina Taylor; Humboldt’s Ellie Jacobson; Louisa-Muscatine’s Hailey Sanders and Kylee Sanders; Mount Vernon’s Sammy Moss; Spirit Lake’s Karli Olsen; Treynor’s Sydni Huisman and West Liberty’s Haylee Lehman and Isabelle True.


Assumption’s Ron Ferrill was named 3A Coach of the Year by the IGCA after leading the Knights to the 3A state championship.
