Roland-Story placed six players on the all-Heart of Iowa Conference volleyball teams in 2019.

The Norse had two players selected to the first team and two more named to the second team by conference coaches. They also had a pair of honorable-mention picks after placing fourth in a loaded conference with a 4-3 record.

Sophomore setter Madison Geise and senior outside hitter Amy Rathmacher were the two Roland-Story players chosen to the first team. The other first-team picks were Kacie Rewerts, Morgan Tupper and Sydney Mosinski from conference champion Nevada; Nessa Johnson and Haleigh Hadley from runner-up Gilbert and Jaedon Murphy and Hailey Steffen from third-place North Polk.

Geise handed out 152 assists and came up with 64 digs, 44 kills and 10 aces in 22 sets during HOIC matches. Rathmacher tallied 63 kills, 42 digs, seven blocks and five aces.

Senior outside hitter Juliann Clark and junior libero Ava Charlson made the all-HOIC second team. They were joined by Nevada’s Hannah Thomsen and Ellie Gray, Gilbert’s Thea Rotto and Isabelle Johnson, North Polk’s Hailey Becker, South Hamilton’s Hailey Cavan and Greene County’s Brianna Osterson.

Clark came up with 77 digs, 26 kills, 15 assists and 11 aces against conference foes. Charlson delivered 83 digs and 10 aces.

Middle hitters Reagan Barkema and Madison Martindale were the two Norse players named honorable mention.

Barkema registered 32 kills and nine blocks in HOIC matches as a sophomore. Martindale delivered 29 kills and 21 blocks against conference competition in her junior year.
