R-S Ag students attend national convention

Roland-Story Agriculture students and FFA members Hailey Arthur, Sydney Berends, Rachel Phelan, Nicholas Morgan, Will McGraw, Tanner Johnson, Jacob Sterle, Brayden Lester and Maverick Larson recently attended the 86th National FFA Convention in Louisville, KY. with FFA Advisor Brad Taylor.

The FFA National Convention is the largest and oldest student run organization convention of its kind in the United States. Nearly 60,000 FFA members from around the United States attended and participated.

According to Brad Taylor, Agriculture Education instructor and FFA Advisor, “the conference is a real eye opener for students. It exposes them to a variety of potential agricultural careers running from production to bio-technologies”.

While at the convention trip, students went on educational tours to Kinze Manufacturing in Williamsburg, Ia, Lewis and Clark Museum and Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Kentucky Derby Museum and Louisville Slugger in Louisville. In addition they attended the career fair, business sessions, leadership workshops, and talent show.
