A Brief Look at Your School

• Mr. Dedic’s Chemistry students are titrating different antacids to determine which is the most effective at neutralizing stomach acid and also doing a consumer analysis of cost, side effects and figuring out a comparison based on per tablet as well as per gram of tablet. Hopefully, they will be able to use this process of analysis in regard to many other products and services they will use in their daily lives.

• Students participating on the Middle School Mock Trial team are meeting on Wednesday and Thursday mornings at 7:15 a.m. Mock Trial is designed to introduce students to our legal system by providing a challenging, academic competition. Students in grades 7th and 8th have the opportunity to experience how a courtroom works by preparing a case and performing the case at regional competition which will be held on November 11.

• The high school is currently in the process of getting rid of old, outdated shop equipment and slowly replacing that equipment with newer and more relevant machines and tools. They are also doing some electrical and plumbing repairs and looking into replacing shop lights and making repairs to the shop heaters.

• 4C and 4B studied the Constitution, Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights for Constitution Week. The students took one of the Bill of Rights and put it into their own words. They then created posters that are displayed at the school.

• Mr. Calvert’s high school American History classes have been covering the last 400 years of history and doing presentations over them. His World History classes recently finished up studying Early Man.
