Family 5K Run/Walk to kick-off National 4-H Week

ISU Extension and Outreach, Region 8 (Boone, Hardin, Marshall, & Story Counties) 4-H Program, along with local area business sponsors and donors, is hosting a 4-H and Family 5K Run/Walk Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Ada Hayden Heritage Park, in Ames, IA. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. and the race starts at 9:00 a.m.

The public of all ages and skill levels is encouraged to participate. Early registration is $20 if postmarked or received by September 15, 2014. Youth 8 & under are free ($10/shirt). Awards will be presented to the Overall Male and Female finishers as well as the top finishers in each age division. There will also be awards for the Best Group Costume and Best Individual costume.

Proceeds from the race will be used for regional programs, day camps, and workshops. Priority program areas include healthy living, citizenship, leadership, communication, arts and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
