R-S Ag department hosts farm safety camp
The Roland-Story Agriculture Department in cooperation with Van Wall/Ryerson Implement of Story City, recently hosted its 37th annual Agriculture farm safety camp for all third graders at the elementary school.
The camp was designed to give the third grade students further insights in being safe when visiting a farm.
According to Brad Taylor, RS Agriculture Instructor, “the topics that the high school students picked out and prepared for are very relevant and should serve as a reminder to any student who visits a farm about being safe”.
Chairing this year’s committee were Brayden Lester and Sam Mathis. Topics that students identified and prepared for included: lawn mowers, grain, tractors and equipment, large animal care (swine, goats, and sheep), horses, small animal care, pets, first aid treatment and ATV’s.
