Animal Science class ‘raising the beat’

Students in the Animal Science class have been studying about the circulatory system of animals’ bodies and were engaged in a lab entitled ‘raising the beat’.

The students are using the CASE (curriculum for agricultural foods and natural resources) ASA curriculum in which they are learning about the topic of ‘respiration’ as it relates to blood circulation in animals.

According to Brad Taylor, RS Agriculture Instructor, “In this lesson, students examine the components of the respiratory system and how it is inter-related to components of the circulatory system. A specific objective of this lesson was to conduct an inquiry on the affects of external conditions on respiration rate, pulse, and blood pressure.”
