Roland-Story Ag students continue water quality testing

Members of the Roland-Story Agriculture Department and FFA chapter have been engaged this summer in their ongoing summer project of ‘water quality’ monitoring within the district watershed areas.

According to Brad Taylor, Agriculture Education instructor and FFA Advisor, “we began the project 14 years ago in conjunction with a grant from Iowa Farm Bureau to monitor water quality within the Roland-Story district. We have test sites that we monitor on a regular basis that include Raccoon River, Skunk River (in 3 spots) and Bear Creek. We continue to find this a relevant project, especially with what has been happening in Des Moines and Northwest Iowa watershed areas.”
