Area tweens and teens are doing an Amazing Race round downtown Story City for the final program of the summer events at Bertha Bartlett Public Library. The race encourages participants to “Get in the game!”, the theme of the teen 2016 Summer Reading Program.

Approximately 30 tweens and teens, ages 10 to 18, will start at the library on Tuesday, July 12, at 10 a.m. and race to specified locations around Story City. They will complete challenges, detours and road blocks before returning to the library for the final pit stop at approximately 12 noon. The race course includes stops at the Story City Lifetime Fitness Center, the Sheldall Schoolhouse (Museums of Story City), the Upper Story Studio, the Story City Greater Chamber Connection, the Story City Fire Department and Kum & Go.

The race is part of the 2016 Summer Reading Program and concludes the programming portion of the program. The reading challenge continues until August 22. Tweens and teens are encouraged to come into the library and read for prizes, including a package of 2 tickets to an Iowa State football game and a package of 4 tickets to an Iowa Wild hockey game.
