City of Roland receives $1,000 grant

The City of Roland, the Roland Park Board, the Britson Park Committee and Mayor Roger Fritz are pleased to announce the award of a $1,000 grant from Theisen’s in Ames. The grant will be used towards construction of a new concession stand/restroom/storage building at Britson Park.

Construction of the softball and baseball fields, parking lot, and the playground structure in Britson Park were completed in 2013. The Britson Park Committee hopes to have this new building completed for the 2014 summer sports season.

“I really appreciate Theisen’s choosing our project as one to help fund,” said Mayor Roger Fritz. “People from Roland and neighboring communities will be coming to Britson Park for years to come to play and watch games at our new park. Theisen’s is helping to make that a better experience for visitors.”

Britson Park is a new seven acre park on the west side of Roland. Besides the two fields, there is open area for soccer and football games and for conducting practices. There is also a playground structure for children. For more information on the park, to see field layouts, or to learn how to contribute towards construction, see
