All Roland-Story retired teachers and staff are invited to the annual Retirement Coffee at 9 a.m. at the Riverbend Golf Course clubhouse.

SENIOR CLASS BREAKFAST AUGUST 14

The Roland-Story 2015 Senior Class Breakfast will be held at the Fairview Lodge at 7:15 a.m. Students are reminded to wear their senior shirt for pictures.

UNITED WAY GOLF FORE KIDS AUGUST 15

The United Way of Story County is hosting a Gold Tournament at the Ames Golf and Country Club with a 10:30 am. shotgun start.

WATER-PALOOZA AUGUST 17

First through fifth-grade boys are invited to the Cub Scout Pack 101 free Water-Palooza at the South Park in Story City from 2 to 4 p.m. This is the annual kick off to Scouting for the 2014-15 Scout Year. Prepare to get very wet, and wear plenty of bug repellant as well.

SOUTH SKUNK RIVER CELEBRATION AUGUST 17

Join Story County Conservation and the Skunk River Paddlers for a celebration of the South Skunk River. This event is designed to introduce people to the river both by paddling a short stretch of it and by talking to experts. It will take place at the Cottonwood Shelter at River Valley Park, near the 13th Street dam in Ames from 2 to 5 p.m. Canoes, paddling equipment and instruction will be available.

The Greater Chamber Connection is hosting their annual Progressive Dinner downtown. This years theme is Taste of Iowa. Tickets are now on sale.

HEARTLAND SENIOR SERVICES 40TH ANNIVERSARY PICNIC AUGUST 22: Heartland Senior Services is celebration 40 years with a picnic at 205 S Walnut in Ames from 11:30 a.m to 1:30 p.m.
