The Story City American Legion will host a Legion Dinner on Saturday, October 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the legion hall. Menu includes potato bar and salad. A free will donation will be taken. The public is welcome to attend.

ST. PETRI TURKEY SUPPER OCTOBER 25

Mark your calendars now to attend St. Petri Lutheran Church’s 26th Annual Turkey Supper on Saturday, October 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. Family style dinner includes roast turkey, dressing, potatoe and gravy, corn, cole slaw, cranberry relish, rolls and homemade pie. Adults $12, kids 5 to 12 $5 and children under 5 are free. Carry out and handicap entrance is located at the north door, 804 Grand Avenue.

BABY BOOMER COMEDY SHOW NOVEMBER 13

The Story Theater Grand Opera House will present the Baby Boomer Comedy Show, live, in concert, on Thursday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m. Veteran comedians Kent Rader and Jan McInnis will entertain the audience with their funny take on familiar topics, such as family, kids, work, dieting, aging, home improvement, etc. in a hilarious 90 minute performance. Tickets are $15 in advance and $25 at the door, and are available now at the Story City Herald (511 Broad), Story Theater (512 Broad) and the Story City Chamber (524 Broad) or by sending in a check to: Story Theater Historical Foundation, 512 Broad St, Story City IA 50248. RED GRANITE FARM TO HOST FALL FEST

On Sunday, October 19th, from 1-4 p.m., Red Granite Farm will host a Fall Fest. This family event, free for all ages, will include harvest games and snacks and the Hovick Family Petting Zoo. Pumpkins, gourds, squash, bittersweet and Indian corn will be available for purchase. Red Granite Farm is located 10 miles west of Story City on E-18 at 2013 130th St. Boone, IA. EDC TRIVIA NIGHT NOVEMBER 14

The Story City EDC is hosting their fall Trivia Night on Friday, November 14th. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the games begin at 7 p.m. The Theme is “Attention All Sports Fans.” Teams are made up of 8 people, and the cost is $100 per team. BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP

Living with Grief is a Bereavement Support Group for those who have experienced the death of loved one. The group will meet for 4 weeks beginning Monday, October 20. Living with Grief will meet from 4-6 p.m. at the Bethany Manor chapel and will be facilitated by Chaplain Sandy Anenson and Homeward Hospice Bereavement Coordinator Bonnie Riphagen. MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC BOARD MEETING

The Board of Trustees of the Story City Municipal Electric Utility will hold their next regular board meeting on Monday, Oct. 20, at 4 p.m. in the board room at the light plant, 505 Market Avenue.

BRITSON PARK TURKEY TROT/5K NOVEMBER 8

The Britson Park Committee, with help from the Roland Kiwanis, is sponsoring The Turkey Trot, a 5K Run/Walk and pancake breakfast feed on Saturday, November 8. The proceeds will go to improvements at Britson Park. The pancake breakfast is from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Roland Middle School and is open to the public. Cost of the breakfast is free to 5K participants, and for others, $5 for adults, $3 for kids. The run/walk will begin at 9 a.m., starting and ending at the Roland Middle School. R-S KIDS CLUB OPEN HOUSE OCTOBER 17

Youth and Shelter Services’ (YSS) Roland-Story Kids Club will host an open house from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Friday, October 17, at the R-S Elementary School, 900 Hillcrest Avenue, in Story City. All are invited to attend. The “Lights on Afterschool” celebration will showcase the club and the quality programming it offers to the community. STORY CITY CUB SCOUTS POPCORN SALES

It’s a Popcorn Blitz! The Story City Cub Scout Pack’s annual popcorn sales are going on now through October 24. The pack will be “blitzing” the town on Saturday, October 18, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. selling popcorn to support the local pack. Support our middle school and elementary school field trips!! Volunteers will be going door to door in Story City on Saturday morning October 18th collecting your refundable cans and bottles. MCFARLAND CLINIC FLU VACCINATIONS

It’s Flu Season again! McFarland Clinic in Story City is now offering flu vaccinations every Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 1 to 4:30 p.m., until the end of the year (by appointment only). Please call 733-5191 to schedule your appointment. All vaccinations will be turned into your insurance company, and most companies will cover the cost of the vaccine.
