ROLAND, STORY CITY TRICK OR TREAT NIGHT

The Roland and Story City Trick or Treat Night is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m.. Story City is also having a downtown Trick or Treat event from 5 to 6:30 p.m., including a pumpkin carving contest and various businesses handing out treats for the kids.

STORY CITY LEGION HALLOWEEN PARTY

The Story City American Legion will host their annual Halloween Party on Friday, October 31, at the legion hall. Dave Nixt will DJ and provide karaoke beginning at 7 p.m. Bring in your pumpkin and enter the pumpkin carving contest with a chance to win $35. A costume contest will also be held, with first ($75), second ($50) and third place ($25) prize money awarded.

BERGEN FALL FEST NOVEMBER 1

Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland will host its Bergen Fall Fest on Saturday, Nov. 1. Lunch will be served 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and costs $7.00. The bake and craft sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Supplemental funds by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Orders will also be taken for November (cranberry relish only).

BRITSON PARK TURKEY TROT/5K NOVEMBER 8

The Britson Park Committee, with help from the Roland Kiwanis, is sponsoring The Turkey Trot, a 5K Run/Walk and pancake breakfast feed on Saturday, November 8. The proceeds will go to improvements at Britson Park. The pancake breakfast is from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Roland Middle School and is open to the public. Cost of the breakfast is free to 5K participants, and for others, $5 for adults, $3 for kids. The run/walk will begin at 9 a.m., starting and ending at the Roland Middle School. BABY BOOMER COMEDY SHOW NOVEMBER 13

The Story Theater Grand Opera House will present the Baby Boomer Comedy Show, live, in concert, on Thursday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m. Veteran comedians Kent Rader and Jan McInnis will entertain the audience with their funny take on familiar topics, such as family, kids, work, dieting, aging, home improvement, etc. in a hilarious 90 minute performance. Tickets are $15 in advance and $25 at the door, and are available now at the Story City Herald (511 Broad), Story Theater (512 Broad) and the Story City Chamber (524 Broad) or by sending in a check to: Story Theater Historical Foundation, 512 Broad St, Story City IA 50248. DOWNTOWN TRICK OR TREAT NIGHT

The Story City GCC invites all kids to downtown Story City on Thursday, Oct. 30, starting at 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. for Trick or Treat Night with some of the Story City businesses. There will be a pumpkin carving contest for everyone to vote on. And following the downtown trick or treat activities, Bethany Life will be hosting their Trick or Treat Night at Bethany Manor.

MCFARLAND CLINIC FLU VACCINATIONS

It’s Flu Season again! McFarland Clinic in Story City is now offering flu vaccinations every Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 1 to 4:30 p.m., until the end of the year (by appointment only). Please call 733-5191 to schedule your appointment. All vaccinations will be turned into your insurance company, and most companies will cover the cost of the vaccine.
