Community Health Fair April 7

The Story City Parks and Recreation Department along with Mary Greeley Medical and the Lifetime Fitness Center and the Story City Shape Up will host a community health fair on Thursday, April 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Rec Center. Local health businesses will have booths and the various programs at the Rec Center will be presented. It’s free and open to the public. Programs featured will be the various youth activites, Fitness on Demand and massage therapy. For more information call 515/733-2458.

Roland Legion Tenderloin Dinner

The Roland American Legion will host a Pork Tenderloin Dinner on Friday, April 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the legion hall. Menu includes; pork tenderloin sandwich, baked beans, chips and apple sauce. Cost is $8.00 per person.

Roland-Story Color Run April 30

Roland-Story Student Council and HOSA will host a Color Run on Saturday, April 30th at 10 a.m. The race will begin at the high school and entrants must raise at least $30 to participate. This is a fundraiser for cancer research and Roland-Story. Participants can sign up at

Sons of Norway April Event

The April Sons of Norway Kong Sverre Lodge’s event will be held on Monday, April 11, at the Community Center, 503 Elm Avenue, Story City. Dean and Judy Sampson will present the program, “Cruise: Puget Sound and San Juan Islands.“ Social time is 6:00 p.m. with a catered dinner at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $7 for members and $10 for guests. Sons of Norway events are open to all interested in learning more about Scandinavian heritage and culture and guests are always welcome. R-S PTO offers school supply kits

The Roland-Story PTO is pleased to announce that they will be offering the convenient services of SchoolKids, Inc. and their Teacher Tailored elementary back-to-school supply kits for the next school year. Supply kit orders are only accepted online at by using the school’s account number (31726). Kit pick day will be Registration Day prior to the beginning of the school year. Prices vary depending on grade level. For more information contact Erica Watts at Orders will be accepted until April 11.

Habitat for Humanity a finalist for national grant

The Central Iowa Habitat for Humanity is one of eight finalists in line for the Gerry Rauenhorst Building Community Award. The award winner will receive a $63,000 grant from the Opus Foundation. During the week of April 5 to 15 be sure to go online to to vote for the local Habitat for Humanity of Central Iowa.
