Historical Society Spring Dinner/Program

Stop by the Carriage House Museum on Thursday, April 28th at 5:30 p.m. for the Historical Society’s Spring Dinner and Presentation. Don Doxsie will be joining us and speaking about his newly published book Iowa Baseball Greats: Sixteen Major Leaguers Who Were in the Game For Life. One of the 16 major leaguers included in the book was Story City’s own Hank Severeid. A ballpark themed free-will donation dinner will be provided, including grilled hot dogs, brats, popcorn, chips, root beer and candy bars.

Trees Forever 20th Annual Tree Sale

The 20th Annual Story City Trees Forever Tree Sale will be held Saturday, April 30, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the former Lone Tree Nursery site near the interstate. Each tree is priced at $40 and are sold on a first come, first serve basis, with a limit of two per household until 11 a.m. After 11 a.m. additional trees may be purchased if any remain. Three sizes of trees are available and they must be planted within the city limits of Story City. For more information call 515/708-2932.

Roland-Story Staff Recognition Banquet

Roland-Story retirees are invited to attend the annual Staff Recognition Banquet on Saturday, April 30 at Prairie Moon Winery. Social hour at 5:30 with dinner at 6:30. Cost of the meal is $5 per person. If you are interested in attending, please contact the business office (733-4301) by Monday, April 25.

R-S PTO to Present All-Vocal Group FACE

Thanks to the financial support of the Roland-Story PTO, the all-vocal rock group FACE will perform at the Roland-Story High School on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Tickets are now on sale at the R-S High School office for $15 each. Proceeds from the concert will go toward new choir robes for the R-S Middle School. The district also wants to give a big thank you to the PTO for supporting this special concert.

Story City City-Wide Garage Sale

The annual Story City Herald City-Wide Garage Sale will be held on Friday and Saturday, May 6 and 7. Cost for placing your ad is $15 per listing. Participants need to provide their address, dates, times and a brief listing of items for sale. Maxiumum number of words is 25, which includes the address and times. Please bring your ad to the Story City Herald office at 511 Broad Street and make payment by cash, check or credit card. Ad deadline is Thursday, April 28.
