Salem Lutheran Church, 102 S. Main St. in Roland, is hosting two events on Saturday, Oct. 17. The public is invited to attend both events.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the church is holding a drive-through chicken and biscuit dinner. A free-will offering will be accepted, which will support missions of the church. Thrivent is providing supplemental funding.

At 1:30 p.m., the church will have a "Pray for Our Nation" event, with guest speaker Pastor Tim Tjernagel.

"In times of greatest need, Americans have always turned to prayer to help guide us through trials and periods of uncertainty," the church said in a news release. "Our local communities are inviting everyone to join us in praying for God's healing hand to be placed on our nation."

Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs and gather on the south lawn beside the church. Masks are required. If the weather is inclement, the event will be moved inside the Salem Sanctuary.
