Greater Chamber Connection elects board members
The Story City Greater Chamber Connection Board of Directors held its annual election of officers at the monthly board meeting in February.
The GCC executive board office of president is held by Marian Olive from Norsemen Realty. She has served on the board in various ways for several years and “volunteers to give back to the community that has been so good to us, her husband, father, grandfather and daughters grew up in Story City, and she wants to see it continue to grow and prosper.”
The officer of vice president is Paula Brown with Great Western Bank. Brown is also chairperson of the Organization Committee for the Main Street program of the GCC and “feels she is giving back to the community in which she grew up and raised her family and enjoys being part of the future of the Roland-Story community.”
Connie Phillips, co-owner of the Tin Chandelier, retained her position as board secretary. Phillips wears many hats including Design Committee Chair, City Council member of Story City, city representative on the GCC Board, and serves on both the Story City Economic Development Board and Story City Municipal Electric.
Treasurer for the GCC Board is John Koppes, who was recently appointed to the board in October of 2020. Koppes works at ISPT LLC in Story City and owns his business Crucial iT Solutions. He has served on the Story City Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors previously and, when asked to serve on the GCC Board, was excited about the opportunity to serve in a different avenue for Story City.
Collectively the executive officers, committee chairs and board members are ready to tackle the challenges 2021 will present! Our GCC volunteers are dedicated to the organizations mission; to serve as a catalyst for plans, strategies, programs and services that promote growth in our historic downtown district and surrounding businesses, resulting in the best community in which to live, work and do business.
