We’re truly enjoying sharing all the great things happening in Roland-Story classrooms this school year!

Prekindergarten teacher Marissa Vermeer is excited about Traveling Teddy, a stuffed bear who goes home with students and takes a little “vacation” in each of their homes. Students track his adventures in a journal, building their communication, math and literacy skills in the process.

Ms. Vermeer is originally from Rockton, Illinois. She has been married for 17 years to her husband, Eric. They have three children and live on a few acres with several horses, cattle, cats and a dog. In her free time, she enjoys baking, reading, riding horses and playing games with her family.

Ms. Vermeer says she enjoys working in Roland-Story because of the determination of teachers and staff to ensure students achieve to their greatest potential.
