Ames Public Library and the Story County Genealogical Society present the 2021 Genealogy PLUS series in-person and online! Each monthly Genealogy PLUS event features an hour-long presentation by an expert followed by a study session.

On Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 10 a.m. Arlen Twedt will present “Central Iowa Norwegians” in the Library’s Auditorium and via Zoom.

Arlen Twedt is the author of "The Central Iowa Norwegians."

Twedt, author of "The Central Iowa Norwegians," will be interviewed by his editor (and wife!), Asta. They will discuss how he got started writing, why he decided to self-publish, and why it took so long to complete his book. All of Arlen’s ancestors were Norwegian immigrants who settled on farms near Roland. Arlen began learning their stories and the general history of the Central Iowa Norwegians. After completing the family history, Arlen continued to research the history of the Norwegian settlements.
