Three Roland-Story musicians selected for honor bands

Three Roland-Story students were recently selected for honor bands. 

Rhianna Koppes was selected to the 2022 South Central Iowa Band Association Honor Band held at Ankeny High School on Jan. 8. The SCIBA district covers 1/6th of Iowa including all of the Des Moines metro. Koppes was selected to the 11-12 band which consisted of 85 musicians. This was the third consecutive year that Koppes has been selected on the trumpet for the SCIBA Honor Band. Director for the band was Dr. Chris Sharp, the assistant professor of music at the the University of Lynchburg located in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Roland-Story had two students selected to the Iowa State University Honor Band. 

Jacob Hennager on french horn was selected to the Cardinal Honor Band. The Cardinal Honor Band was directed by Jarrod O'Donnell, the band director at Atlantic High School. 

Wrigley Propp on baritone saxophone was selected to the Gold Honor Band. Guest conductor Patrick Sheridan directed the Gold Honor Band. Sheridan most recently served on the music faculty at UCLA where he conducted the Bass Ensemble, Wind Ensemble and tuba/euphonium. Sheridan is one of the most celebrated tuba soloists in his instrument's history. He has performed more the 3,500 concerts in over 50 countries in venues ranging from the White House to NBA half-time shows to the Hollywood Bowl. The ISU Honor Band was held on Feb. 4-5. The concert was at Stephens Auditorium.
