State reports 2 more COVID-19 deaths in Story County, 15 new cases
Two more Story County residents have died due to COVID-19 and another 15 have tested positive, the state reported Thursday.
At 10 a.m. Thursday, the state was reporting 13 Story County residents had died due to the illness — an increase of two since the same time Wednesday. It was also reporting 1,076 people had tested positive – up 15 from the same time Wednesday.
COVID-19 is the respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus.
A total of 11,876 people have been tested for the illness in Story County, the state was reporting Thursday morning. Of the 1,076 positive tests, the state reports there have been 779 recoveries.
State health officials reported Accura Healthcare of Ames — which was identified by the state as having an outbreak in early July — had a total of 52 positive cases as of Thursday morning, which is no change since the day prior. Of those who have tested positive from the virus at the facility, 21 individuals have recovered, which is up one from the day prior, according to Iowa’s coronavirus website.
Across Iowa, another 15 people with COVID-19 have died and there have been an additional 582 confirmed cases, the state reported Thursday.
At 10 a.m. Thursday, the state was reporting 854 COVID-19-related deaths, an increase of 15 deaths since the state’s tally at 10 a.m. Wednesday, according to the state’s coronavirus website.
The state was reporting at 10 a.m. Thursday there are 43,778 confirmed cases of coronavirus, an increase of 582 since 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Of those tested for the virus on Wednesday, 8.6% were positive. Since the state started tracking the positivity rate, 9.3% of people who have been tested were positive.
Of the 43,778 people who have tested positive, 31,741 have recovered, according to the state. The total number of people tested is 469,576.
Shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday, the state was reporting 237 hospitalizations, down from 246 on Wednesday. In the past 24 hours, 33 patients have been admitted. Also, there are 76 patients in the ICU, the same as Wednesday.
