The Story City Friends Endowment is an organization that enjoys giving back to the community. The organization is awarding $2,700 this spring to qualified 501.c3 organizations that have an impact on Story City.

“This is our largest award to-date,” said Dwayne Fiihr, president. “This will mark our fifth year of awarding funding to non-profits. People understand that this is a permanent fund which continues to grow and support Story City. We thank each of them for their support.”

Since 2014, the endowment has grown to total over $60,000. Donations of all sizes by local residents fund the endowment which then, in turn contributes up to 5 percent back to the community on an annual basis.

Any nonprofit wishing to request funds should submit a plea letter by March 5, indicating organization name, contact person, amount requested and what the funds are to be used for. Plea letters should be sent to Dwayne Fiihr, SCFE President, 339 Lafayette Ave., Story City, IA 50248.
