Roland pool bond election: Absentee voting begins

Story County Auditor Lucy Martin announced the start of absentee voting for the upcoming March 5 special bond election for a new swimming pool in the city of Roland. Due to a vacancy currently filled by appointment, a city council seat is also on the ballot.

All eligible voters residing within the city of Roland may now vote at the Story County Auditor’s Office. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Auditor’s Office is located on the second floor of the Story County Administration Building, 900 Sixth St., Nevada.

Important dates to remember:

Friday, Feb. 22: Voter pre-registration deadline. Following the deadline, Election Day Registration rules apply. Completed registration forms must be in the Auditor’s Office by 5 p.m.

Friday, Feb. 22: Deadline to request a mailed absentee ballot.

Monday, March 4: Last day to vote absentee in-person. Mailed ballots must be postmarked no later than today in order to be considered.

Tuesday, March 5: Election Day. Polls open 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Mailed ballots will be sent to voters who have completed a request form. Voters can request a mailed absentee ballot by filling out the “Official Iowa Absentee Ballot Request Form.” Fillable forms are available online at www.storycountyiowa.gov/elections.
