Window Display Contest winners annnounced

—by Shannon Hayden

The competition was fierce during Story City’s second Downtown Window Display Contest. With the theme of, “Let’s Illuminate the Town”, our downtown businesses did not disappoint. Our Grand Winner was inVintg (see photos). With their handmade wooden reindeer and angels, white metal snowflakes, and all white lights inVintg stood out with an amazing display. The judges this time around were Connie Phillips (the GCC Design Chairperson), Molly Nagel (Owner of Upper Story Studio), and Nancy Blume (Reliance State Bank Representative).

The judges were so torn with the competition that they decided to award a top contender for each category. Romsey Art & Gifts received the award for Best Creativity. Kaitlyn’s window display consisted of handmade art on old barn wood, holiday Scandinavian dolls, and her entry way was lit with green garland and lights. Pete Tekippe Photography won for Best Presentation. Pete’s display of his photography impressed the judges. And Bethany Life won for Best WOW Factor. If you have time stop by and read their design plan. True Value took the spot for our Integration of Business Merchandise. Their display is lit up with lights and yard art reindeers. Last, but not least, Great Western Bank won for Best Match of Theme. You cannot walk by the bank and not miss all of the Christmas trees. A total of six Christmas trees adore their windows.

Thank you to all of the businesses for their participation, including 2nd Time Around, ACT Insurance, The Bistro, Dinners By Dawn, Huffer, Coleman, and Ward P.L.C., Norsemen Realty, NuCara Pharmacy, Reliance State Bank, Salon 603, Story City Floral, TC Hair Designs, Town & Country Insurance and Wolfe Family Vision Center. Look for our next display contest coming in February!
