It’s hard to believe that 2014 is already coming to a close. This is the last article from the GCC for the year, and it’s hard to believe, but exciting to know that we made it through all of the years events and activities. 2014 was a good year. I came on board in January and got to enjoy the full calendar year of events from the moment I started with planning the annual dinner to wrapping up with Yulefest Day for Kids a couple of weekends ago. What a crazy ride it is, and I’m not just talking about the Carousel months, which might be the craziest months I have ever been through. We had a lot of successful events throughout the year including the Wine & Beer event, Easter Egg Hunt, Scandinavian Days, Duck Race, Golf Tournament, Progressive Dinner, Story! Festival, Trick-or-Treat Night, and all of the Yulefest celebrations. I’m just glad I got through it all.

As excited as I am about what we did in 2014, I’m even more excited about what we are doing in 2015. Right off the bat we will be starting our new health and wellness initiative called the Story City Shape-Up. It promises to be a lot of fun, a lot of work, and hopefully, a lot of healthy people by the end of the 3 month promotion. You won’t want to miss this so please stay tuned for more information. We are also planning our first Small Business Social Media Seminar. We are bringing in a small business owner who has had a lot of success promoting her business in the social media sphere. We are glad that she is willing to come talk with us about what options are out there and available, as well as doing an in-depth look at Facebook and how it can be useful for your business. This is absolutely free for our partner businesses, but we invite everyone to join us. If you aren’t a partner the cost is just $20. This seminar will be held at the Community Center on February 10th at 5:30 PM, or February 17th if the weather is bad.

We hope this gets you as excited for 2015 as we are! See you in 2015! Happy New Year!
