Have you heard the rumors that Story! Festival is not happening? Well; those rumors are false. On Thursday, September 15th the 11th Annual Story! Festival will kick off with dinner and a story at Fairview Lodge.

In the past this festival has been run by an individually sponsored committee but this year the Story City Historical Society, Bertha Bartlett Public Library, and Greater Chamber Connection are all working together to hear unique and exciting stories from not only National Storytellers but also regional and local tellers.

This year the festival will be a shorter, more compact version of what has occurred in the past. Instead of the usual three to five tellers we will be bringing in two tellers; Pippa White and La’Ron Williams. As mentioned our tellers will kick off the weekend with a Dinner and a Story at 6:30 on the 15th. The dinner will be catered by Dinners by Dawn and Pat Hashman has agreed to play before the event and during dinner. Tickets will be pre-sale only starting August 1st for the dinner.

On Friday the tellers will be visiting the Roland-Story Schools and that evening a group of local Storytellers will be sharing scary stories with us. This will be a free will donation two-part event. The first will be family friendly and the second will be adults only. On Saturday morning each teller will do a morning workshop at separate times so people can attend both and the Story Slam will be at 1:00. At 3:00 Pippa White will tell her “Orphan Train” story and then that evening we will conclude our festival with a telling from both.
