Roland-Story boys struggle, but still win triangular at River Bend

The R-S boys’ golf team hosted a triangular meet at River Bend Golf Course in Story City on Thursday (April 14), facing off agains visitors Saydel and CMB. The Norse were able to squeeze by Saydel by two strokes, 174-176. CMB finished well back at 219.

“We didn’t play particularly well,” stated Coach Tyler Frederiksen, “but it’s always nice to win when you weren’t at your best.”

Cole Matheason was meet medalist with a round of 42 on the par 36 course. Grant Waline was runner up, but lost the card back to Joe Boehler of Saydel, as they both shot 43s. Will Larson came in with a 44, followed by Nic Turner’s 45, Will Halstead at 48 and CJ Arnold shot a 51. Reece Martin and Zach McKee also shot 43s for Saydel.

Other Norsemen golfers getting a round in included Alex Retallick (47), Ben Carlson (48), Carson Ehrenberg (48), Tyler Risdal (49), Dylan Matheason (52) and Zach Hartzler (53).
