The Roland-Story girls’ golf team finally was able to get the golf season under way on Monday (April 11), despite conditions being less than ideal. The Norse traveled to Clarion to take on Clarion-Goldfield on the par 36 Clarmond Country Club course.

“It was a very windy night,” said Coach Larry Ammerman, “with temps in the low 40s. (Just) not an ideal night for golf.”

A total of 12 Norsemen made the trip north, six varsity and six junior varsity golfers.

The host C-G varsity girls defeated the R-S varsity 208-243. Susie Weaver and Sydney Mathis led the Norse with 59s. Sydney Weaver carded a 62 and Alayna Ringsby came in with a 63. Lauren Hanson and Jaeda Pitman both shot 70s.

The Norse J.V. girls fell just three shots short of Clarion-Goldfield, losing 264-267. Tori Fournier and Allisyn Coghlan both carded 66s. Other J.V. golfers for the Norsemen included Brooke Ehrenberg, Calli Tystahl, Jenna Clark and Hannah Henderson.
