The Roland-Story Athletic Boosters will be hosting an 18-hole golf tournament fund raiser again this year on Saturday, August 20, at River Bend Golf Course in Story City. They hope to raise between $4,000 and $5,000. The tournament will be a four-person best shot and there are spots for 28 teams. The cost is $50 per person or $200 for a team, and that includes meals and golf. Cart rentals (for two people) will be an additional $25 cost.

Lunch will be provided at the start of the tournament beginning at 10:45 a.m., with a shot gun start scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Lunch will also be available at the end of the event as golfers are completing their 18 holes. Prizes will also be given away at the end of the tournament, along with winners announced in three flights. The anticipated completion time is 6 p.m.

The Boosters are also hoping to get 18 businesses to sponsor a hole. The cost is $100 and a sign with the business name and logo will be posted at each hole. Prize sponsors are also being contacted to provide prizes for various contests at several holes, including longest putt, closest to the pin, longest drive, etc. There will also be an opportunity to win a chance to putt for $5,000 in cash for one lucky person, as well as a hole-in-one prize opportunity to win $5,000.

Participants and hole sponsors may send their checks, made out to Roland-Story Athletic Booster Foundation, to Record Printing, PO Box 200, Story City IA 50248. There is also a sign up sheet for golfers at the River Bend clubhouse. For more information, including cart rentals, hole and prize sponsorships, contact Brad Eslick at

The rain date is scheduled for the following week on August 27 in case of inclement weather.
