Norse top No. 10 Independence at home quad: R-S goes 2-1 at Perry, sweeps SH

STORY CITY - The Roland-Story volleyball team finished 1-2 at a home quadrangular meet Saturday.

The lone Roland-Story victory was a big one. The Norse, ranked 12th in Class 3A, swept 10th-ranked Independence by scores of 25-17 and 25-15.

Roland-Story lost in three sets to a 19-8 Kuemper Catholic team. The Norse won a 26-24 war in the first set, but suffered a 25-21 loss in the second then dropped the rally game, 21-19.

South Hardin swept Roland-Story by scores of 25-22 and 27-25. The Norse concluded the tournament with a 21-7 overall record.

Madison Geise had 59 assists, 19 kills, 14 digs, five blocks and two aces and Ava Charlson 39 digs, eight assists and three aces during the tournament for Roland-Story. Megan Greenfield put up 29 kills, 20 digs, two assists and one block; Dani Grady 23 digs and one ace and kill apiece and Ally Ringsby 18 digs, two kills and one assist.

Reagan Vogelaar added 13 kills, four blocks and two digs and Reagan Schmitz nine digs, eight kills and two blocks. Madison Martindale put up nine kills, seven blocks and two digs; Jadyn Nelson six blocks, five digs and four kills; Reagan Faber nine digs and Ali Charlson two digs and aces apiece.

PERRY - Roland-Story went 2-1 at the Jayette Invitational with wins over Saydel and Perry and a loss to Dallas Center-Grimes Oct. 8

Roland-Story, ranked 12th in Class 3A, swept Saydel with a pair of 25-13 victories and Perry by scores of 25-22 and 25-21. They fell to a DC-G team rated 10th in 4A in straight sets, 25-19 and 25-17, to put their season record at 20-5.

For the three matches Roland-Story setter Madsion Geise delivered 63 assists, 18 kills, 11 digs and four blocks and aces apiece. Ava Charlson had 44 digs, eight assists and three aces; Megan Greenfield 19 kills, nine digs and two blocks and Madison Martindale 16 kills, four digs, three blocks and two aces.

Dani Gradi added 23 digs and three aces and kills apiece and Reagan Vogelaar finished with 13 kills and one dig and block apiece. Ally Ringsby recorded 12 digs, nine kills and one ace; Reagan Faber nine digs, four aces and one assist; Reagan Schmitz nine digs and five kills and Jadyn Nelson seven kills, four blocks and one dig.

JEWELL - Roland-Story kept unbeaten in the Heart of Iowa Conference with a sweep over South Hamilton on the road Oct. 6.

The Norse, ranked 12th in Class 3A, rolled to victories of 25-17, 25-18 and 25-11 to improve their HOIC record to 5-0 and move to 18-4 overall.

Roland-Story averaged 13 kills on a strong 25.5-percent kill-efficiency rate in the win. The Norse also averaged 20 digs per set and totaled eight aces and six blocks.

Madison Geise was outstanding at setter with 25 assists, nine digs, seven kills and three aces and Megan Greenfield recorded nine kills, seven digs and two aces for Roland-Story. Madison Martindale had eight kills, two assists, two blocks and one ace; Ava Charlson 19 digs, six assists and two aces; Reagan Schmitz 11 digs, four kills and two assists and Reagan Vogelaar six kills, three blocks and one dig an assist apiece.

Dani Grady chipped in nine digs and Jadyn Nelson five kills and one block.
