Norsemen down Jaguars in 2A district semifinals: Roland-Story goes to 17-3 with 58-49 victory

STORY CITY – The Roland-Story boys’ basketball team got the job done in the Class 2A district semifinals Feb. 18 with a 58-49 victory over Southeast Valley. 

The Norsemen shot 48 % from the field and totaled 33 rebounds, including 12 offensive boards, to advance to the district finals with a 17-3 record. 

Roland-Story led 21-15 at the half. The Norsemen gained some breathing room in the third quarter by outscoring the Jaguars 16-11 and they did well enough offensively down the stretch to hold off a Southeast Valley charge. 

Nolan Faber led a balanced Roland-Story attack with 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Jonovan Wilkinson added 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists, Adam McIlrath 13 points, four rebounds and two blocks and Will Bunn nine points and one steal.
