Roland-Story's Barkema makes all-state in girls basketball: Chosen to IGCA second team in 3A


Roland-Story junior Reagan Barkema was an all-state selection in girls’ basketball by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association in 2020-2021.
Barkema was an all-state pick for the third time in as many seasons for the Norse girls. She was named to the Class 3A second team after leading Roland-Story to a 17-5 record, an undefeated run through the Heart of Iowa Conference championship and its second state tournament appearance in three years.
The 5-11 forward averaged 14.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 steals. She made 50 3-pointers and shot 49 % from the field and 75 % from the line.
The IGCA 3A first team was made up of Center Point-Urbana's Ryley Goebel, Solon’s Callie Levin, Central Lee’s Mya Merschman, West Lyon’s Brooklyn Meyer, Cherokee’s JaMae Nichols, Des Moines Christian’s Moriah Prewitt and Unity Christian's sister tandem of Janie and Graice Schoonhoven.
West Lyon’s Ryan Brasser was named 3A Coach of the Year.
